Nam Tok (in Thai) or Grilled Beef Salad is a famous Northeastern Thai dish. The name means “water fall” in Thai since the meat is traditionally grilled over hot charcoal with the dripping sound of sizzling juice coming out. From the ordinary main ingredients with cooking beef, varieties of vegetables, herbs, spices and dressing combine to extraordinary breezy freshy tasty dish. Nam Tok can be mild or spicy (more Thai chilies). It is usually served with sticky rice and fresh vegetables, but can be enjoyed with steamed rice or eaten alone.

 

Choice of Protein Ingredients Quantity
Beef Beef skirt steak 1/2 lb
shallot 2
Kale 2 leaves
Mint Leaves 1/4 cup
Ground toasted rice 1tbs
Lime 1
Ground dried chili 1/2 tsp
  Nam Tok Sauce 80g
Cilantro 1 Stem
Cherry Tomatoes 4 Tomatoes
Marinade Sauce 1/2 Cup

 

 

Prepping: 

  1. Trim  any fat from Beef,Marinated  beef with Marinade Sauce  for hour to overnight.
  2. Grill  pan  with over medium high heat  Grill Beef until medium rare, about 5 minutes per side, or  depending on desired doneness. Let rest until room temperature then slice thinly against the grain
  3. Peel  and sliced shallot, Wash cilantro and chopped, Wash cherry tomatoes ,Juice of lime,Wash kale 
  4. Combine sliced Shallot, Mint leaves,Cilantro ,Cherry Tomatoes,Ground Toast Rice,Ground Dried Chili and Grilled Beef  in salad bowl with  Nam Tok Sauce  Mix Well,and Take a Taste. Serve with sticky rice and fresh vegetable(Kale)  Topping with Ground toasted rice  and Garnished with Cilantro Mint Leaves
