Chicken Satay is a dish of grilled chicken skewers marinated with spices and served with peanut sauce. It is a dish of Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Satay may consist of diced or sliced chicken, beef, pork, other meats, or tofu. The more authentic version uses skewers from the midrib of the coconut palm frond, although bamboo skewers are often used. These are traditionally grilled or barbecued over a wood or charcoal fire, then served with various spicy seasonings. Satay is often served with peanut sauce. Hence, peanut sauce is sometimes called satay sauce.
