Ever get bored with your sauces or can’t figure out what to put it in? Well wonder no further, we have the perfect sauce that you can add to chicken, beef, pork, noodles, spring rolls, dumplings, and even salads. It is our version of a Thai peanut sauce that incorporates Thai Direct’s hot sauce that adds some real complexity and heat to it.
Authentic Thai peanut sauces don’t utilize peanut butter like we do in the United States, they use a mortar and pestle and ground peanuts themselves for a real nutty and chunky taste. If you wish to substitute fresh ground peanuts then just use ⅔ cup of peanuts and crush them.
What you’ll need for the sauce:
½ Cup Peanut Butter (Creamy) or (Use substitution described above)
¼ Cup of Hot Water
2 TBSP of Thai Red Curry Paste
2 TBSP Palm Sugar
2 TBSP of Thai Direct’s Thai Hot Sauce
1 TBSP Soy Sauce (Low Sodium if you are watching your intake)
1 TBSP Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
½ TSP of Ground Chili Flakes
Pinch of Salt - To Taste
Here’s what you’ll need to do:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the hot water and the peanut butter. Until fully combined.
Stir in the remaining ingredients and add salt to taste! Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
If the spice is too much for you then just omit the ground chili flakes and add a teaspoon more of sugar to balance out that flavor.
